Last Call for Crochet Granny Squares

So 2021-2022 was the introduction of the crochet granny squares into style. It felt like the retail market tried really hard to make it likable and fresh in fashion. But in reality, this knit pattern can feel weird, reminiscent of retro couch throws as seen on American sitcom tv shows, and if styled on an old lady, it will confirm you are an old lady.

But! It is eye-catching, it is recognizable, and gives off a "homey" vibe. Now that this tried-to-be trendy style is probably at the end of its life and showing up on clearance racks, I'm pondering if I should add a piece into my wardrobe just to be prepared for the next time when it becomes fashionable again.

These ones seem quite cool actually.....

1. Granny squares on headwear:

2. Granny squares as a shrug:

FYI: the only fashion trend of the 90's when I was in high school that I absolutely loved but missed out on (because I couldn't afford to go shopping) was the "shrug" cardigan. Still trying to find myself that ultimate shrug this day.

3. Granny squares as a sweater vest but worn as a tank:

What are your favorites ways to wear granny squares?
