Funny Face inspiration

Last week, I watched the 1957 movie Funny Face for the first time. Of all the fashionable outfits that Audrey Hepburn wears, I was most enthusiastic about her "nerdy bookstore clerk" attire!

Here are some other reasons I love the movie:

1. Fred Astaire wears the most interesting socks to match his outfits. I appreciate guys who are thoughtful about their socks.

2. Audrey Hepburn gives a shout-out to "Omaha."

3. There's a little car featured in there that reminds me of today's Smart Car. I did not know there existed small city cars back then too.

4. Wearing all black (or a black turtleneck) automatically makes a person appear smarter.

5. Lastly, I'm obsessed with the hooded rain jacket that Audrey Hepburn sports in Paris:
...one of those timeless items that I can see people wearing right now!

Here's my outfit inspired by the movie:
Featuring: Target Merona Ultimate long-sleeve crew tee size S and old H&M houndstooth skirt (wearing size 6; see Extra Petite in size 2). I always stock up on these Target tees since they are amazingly warm yet soft and lightweight, much more comfortable than an itchy sweater!

What are your favorite moments/outfits from Funny Face?

Thanks for the plug on the Target tee. I checked for it in white, but they only had solid colors. I'll keep on the lookout. I haven't seen Funny Face yet, but I definitely have to ask about why Peyton Manning says Omaha. What am I missing?

Also, just saw a jacket in black similar to the one you have pictured: http://www.hm.com/us/product/24053?article=24053-A#shopOrigin=SA

QFFS, anytime the media mentions "Omaha," it's kind of funny and good for the city of Omaha (because most people don't really think of visiting Omaha ever...but I know you did!) I believe Peyton Manning yells that word as a secret play during the games. It's just hilarious that it turned into a little advertisement for "Omaha."

And most of the Target Merona Ultimate tees are on clearance racks right now. The crew neck version doesn't have white, but they do have white ones for the scoop-neck version (same awesome Ultimate tee fabric: http://www.target.com/p/women-s-ultimate-long-sleeve-scoop-tee/-/A-14978144#prodSlot=medium_1_11&term=ultimate tee

And, thanks for the H&M link!

Funny Face is one of my favorite movies!! I love Audrey Hepburn and I love many of her movies but that one is one of my favorites because of the fashion. :) Didn't the red dress scene just steal your heart though? LOVED your interpretation of the "nerdy" book girl look. A+!!

Ah, now it all makes sense. OMAHA. I hope I have contributed to the advertising. LOL. OMAHA STILL HAS THE BEST STEAK I have ever had--specifically Paxton Chophouse in Omaha. I hope that provided you with laughs and the city of Omaha with some more advertising presence. FYI, I am currently watching Funny Face. Will let you know what I think!

Oh I watched this movie wayyy back in middle school when I was on an Audrey Hepburn kick. I seriously need to re-watch it just to see the fashion again!

Jen, that red dress was absolutely stunning on her! wish they had shown more of it, because that scene went by so quick!

QQFS, hope you liked the movie! The content and singing were kind of cheesy, but the fashion was fun to watch :)

Kileen, I think the only other movie I've watched with Audrey Hepburn in it is "My Fair Lady" from high school when we learned about George Bernard Shaw in English class. I definitely want to watch more of her other movies now...especially the famous "Breakfast at Tiffany's" that everyone always references :)
